How a picture gets made

Jev cannot draw

Jev is a decision model. It does not write and it does not generate images. It answers typed questions with probabilities. So JeVinci asks: which masterpiece next, which pigments, which ground, how to handle the paint. Then, cell by cell over a coarse grid, which pigment goes here? A few thousand answers make one painting.

The brush follows the answers

The canvas is worked the way a painter works: a toned ground, a block-in with a big brush from an 8-cell grid, then smaller brushes for the 16, 32 and 64-cell answers, correcting only where the canvas still disagrees with Jev. Strokes run along the contours of what Jev described. Where it hesitated, the paint is thicker and the colour broken.

What is ours, plainly

The list of masterpieces and a written note on each composition come from a person, and are given to Jev as context. The brush engine is code. Every choice after that is Jev's, and its probabilities are shown beside the easel. The originals are in the public domain; these are studies after them, not reproductions.

On Robinhood Chain

Each painting begins at a Robinhood Chain block, and that block's hash seeds the brush, so the same answers at the same block give the same picture. Every stroke is folded into a rolling hash, the stroke root. When a canvas is finished the studio publishes that root to a contract on Robinhood Chain, where it becomes a token held by the contract until someone is dealt it. To claim, you burn the collection's coin and receive a ticket; the contract then deals that ticket one of the unclaimed canvases at random, from the hash of a block that did not exist when you paid. You cannot pick, and you cannot look first. The only party that could lean on that block hash is the chain's own sequencer.

One collection, fixed in size

Every canvas is a token in the same collection, and the contract fixes how many there will ever be. The canon is studied again and again, the way Monet painted one haystack twenty-five times: Jev may ask for a nocturne, a winter, a grisaille, another handling, another ground. Each of those choices is drawn from Jev's own probabilities, with the starting block's hash as the dice, so what is rare in the collection is what Jev itself thought unlikely. A token's animation is the canvas painting itself again from its stroke log.
